The A 3100 HV is not merely a power amplifier. It is an instrument of uncompromising physics, designed with a single purpose: absolute transparency. Engineered to operate in perfect synchronicity with reference pre-amplifiers, it defines the ultimate boundary of what is electronically possible, solely to preserve the fragile, emotional content of the recording.
It has not been built as an integrated compromise. Instead, deliberately separated power and pre-amplification components remove all physical and thermal restrictions on each unit: A pre-amplifier demands a sanctuary from interference to protect the most fragile, microscopic audio signals, whilst a power amplifier demands an unyielding foundation to deliver massive, instantaneous power. These are fundamentally different disciplines. The A 3100 HV uses its heritage to master the latter.
Leveraging the immense wealth of experience gained during the popular A 3000 HV’s ten-year production run, we refined the internal architecture to its absolute peak, integrated next-generation components, optimized PCB routing down to the millimeter, and took complete mastery over the thermal equilibrium of the chassis.
The result is our proprietary HV technology, which has been taken to a new level through more than 270 targeted optimizations. When configured as a mono power amplifier, its current delivery capability doubles. As a stereo power amplifier, it offers unwavering stability for deep sonic fidelity. Like its predecessor, the A 3000 HV, the A 3100 HV features High Voltage Mode, which delivers more than 1,000 watts of rated power. This enormous power can be further stabilized, if needed, by the PS 3100 HV high-voltage power supply and is intended for applications where maximum output power and dynamic headroom are paramount.
However, we have equipped the new A 3100 HV with another audiophile feature: High Current Mode. This mode is not about maximum power, but rather about perfected sound performance. The operating voltage and output power are significantly lower; however, High Current Mode allows the power amplifier to operate within the true Class A range in both mono and stereo modes. In this operating mode, an increased quiescent current is maintained continuously, which is essential for eliminating microscopic transient delays -and translates the subtle nuances of a recording into a lightning-fast, deeply natural listening experience. Due to its design, the PS 3100 HV cannot be used in High Current Mode.
